Archimede

The project stems from a specific need: to reconstruct an urban edge and restore continuity to a broken street front. The intervention works through subtraction and measurement, transforming the entrance into a clear and recognizable threshold: a large door, an integral part of the façade, leads to the space behind and the new life of the block.

A new, rigorously designed residential volume emerges on the street front, exploiting the available space. The composition is balanced between solids and voids, with horizontal and vertical ratios that render the contemporary presence discreet yet unmistakable. On the lower level, the door opens onto the new underground parking lot, neatly addressing the functional aspect of accessibility.

Inside, the former workshop's volume is reinterpreted as an urban villa: a generous domestic structure, capable of welcoming light and depth without losing the sense of the original structure. The courtyard becomes the project's true spatial device: redesigned as a sequence of pathways and short breaks, it connects the different spaces and enhances the entire complex.

An additional level of use is grafted underground: a basement space, renovated and converted into a loft-style living space, is accessible via a small staircase. It's a more intimate space, designed for complementary activities and to expand the home's flexible use.
