The starting point is a simple gesture: approaching the mirror to recognize oneself, get ready, and take care of oneself. Key Round adopts this ritual as a design metric. The circle, a quiet and universally legible form, is interrupted: the missing segment becomes a shelf, a support line, and a space for technical integration. The light is not a contour, but a disciplined presence: three independent sectors (two lateral and one upper) allow the direction and intensity to be modulated according to the time of day, habit, and posture.
Key Round
Vanità & Casa's Ghost Light Mirror technology makes this control even clearer: when the mirror is off, the light disappears completely, eliminating the whitish or milky surface typical of LEDs, and the surface remains continuous, reflective, and intact. When activated, the light appears as precisely as it was designed: uniform on the face, glare-free, and reliable for makeup and daily routines.
Key Round doesn't seek to impose itself: when the light is off, it's a pure mirror; when the light is on, it punctuates the vertical plane with a measured graphic line, capable of interacting with natural light and neutral or textured materials. Geometric subtraction also opens up compositional possibilities: rotating the mirror 90° creates a linear side that allows for the integration of side shelves and the creation of a coherent double sink composition. The project therefore seeks balance: essential yet warm, technical yet domestic, designed to last.
Strategy
Putting the user and their gestures at the center: light, support and order as primary functions, not accessories.
Reduce the visual noise typical of backlit mirrors: the light appears only when needed and does not alter the surface when turned off.
Offer flexibility of use with three separately activated sectors, to adapt the lighting scene to different routines.
Integrate accessories and shelves into the same figure, avoiding added elements and simplifying the overall language.
Promote durability and maintainability with recyclable materials and replaceable components
Design
Geometry by subtraction: the circle is interrupted to generate a shelf and an integrated support system.
Three independent light sectors (two on the sides and one on the top) with controlled and uniform light on the face.
Ghost Light Mirror: when the mirror is off, the light is invisible and the surface remains continuous, without a milky effect.
90° rotation to obtain a linear side and build double sink compositions with aligned side shelves.
Essential and durable materials (aluminum and glass) with attention to end-of-life and recyclability; removable reflective film
Results
A mirror that alternates presence and discretion: pure when off, functional and readable when on.
Light quality designed to avoid harsh shadows and glare, useful for both makeup and daily care.
Keep your sink tidy with the built-in shelf and side shelves, complete with dedicated storage for items and towels.
Scalable system: single or double, with lighting configurations selectable according to context and habits.
